MEET ALICE (XIAORAN) ZHAO, LCPC

Hello! I am Alice Zhao, a mental health therapist with an Asian background, originating from China. With 5 years of experience in the field, I am deeply committed to providing culturally sensitive support and guidance to individuals from diverse backgrounds, drawing from my personal experiences as an immigrant and an Asian therapist.

As an immigrant myself, I understand the unique challenges and strengths that come with navigating different cultures, adapting to new environments, and building a sense of belonging. I bring this valuable perspective into my counseling work, creating a safe and empathetic space where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

With a deep appreciation of Asian cultures, I recognize the importance of cultural values, beliefs, and family dynamics that shape individuals' lives. I honor the diverse experiences and backgrounds of my clients, tailoring my therapeutic approach to meet their specific needs and goals.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I am sensitive to the impact of traumatic experiences on individuals' mental well-being. Common symptoms of trauma may include intrusive thoughts or memories, flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, avoidance of triggers, emotional numbness, difficulties with concentration, changes in sleep patterns, and appetite disruptions. I am passionate about helping clients heal from trauma, build resilience, and reclaim their lives. Alongside evidence-based practices, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, I am certified in Brainspotting, a powerful therapeutic approach that facilitates deep healing and transformation.

My counseling approach is person-centered and strengths-based, fostering a collaborative and trusting therapeutic alliance. I believe in empowering individuals to discover their inner strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful changes in their lives.

In addition to trauma work, I have experience in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and cross-cultural challenges. I integrate various therapeutic modalities and cultural frameworks into my practice, respecting the uniqueness of each client's journey.

If you are seeking a compassionate and culturally sensitive therapist who understands the complexities of being an immigrant and an Asian therapist, I invite you to reach out for a confidential consultation. Together, we can navigate the challenges you face and work towards your mental well-being and personal growth.
