SARAH IS NOT ACCEPTING CLIENTS
Hello! I am Sarah. I use evidence based modalities such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporate a humanistic and strengths based approach. I have experience working with young adults with anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and issues related to body image and esteem.
In terms of problems, I am best positioned to serve clients experiencing trauma reactions, a history of adverse childhood experiences, anxiety, depression, grief, anger, and emotional dysregulation. Also, clients experiencing neurodivergence, such as coping with ADHD. In terms of population, I can best serve people of color, women, older adults, couples, families, Indian and other minority populations, and people seeking to have better mental health and functioning in general.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve
I have experience working with young adults with anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and issues related to body image and esteem.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize, and why?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy this modality has been really helpful for my clients in restructuring and evaluating negative cognitions.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my own experience as a client, I approached therapy with the idea that I was going to make major changes in myself and simply get rid of parts I was not proud of. This was something that held me back for quite a while in therapy, so emphasis on acceptance is something that is very important to me!
Client Centered Therapy I believe that my clients are experts on their own lives, and I want to make it a priority to hear what they share with an open mind.

FAQ from Clients
-
I hope to use the first sessions to get to know my clients better! It’s of course crucial to gather information on what clients’ presenting concern is and how it has impacted them, but I also hope to learn what kind of person they are, what they enjoy, and what they hope to achieve in therapy.
-
I feel like my greatest strength as a therapist is my patience. In my time at my internship, I worked with individuals in a wide range of stages with a wide range of goals, and I learned that to be an effective therapist, it’s so important to meet clients where they are and to work with them at a pace they are comfortable with. I also think that my focus on emphasizing clients’ strengths can be really beneficial in therapy; I want to be sure to acknowledge how hard coming to therapy can be and how difficult some of the work is and how much courage it takes for clients to show up to sessions.
-
I’m open to working with anyone, but I do find myself struggling a little bit more with clients who are perpetrators of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault
-
I hope my clients walk away from therapy with a deeper understanding and acceptance of themselves! I also hope that they are able to experience progress and view that progress as something that is ongoing; no one will ever reach “perfect” mental health, and that’s okay!
-
I hope for my clients to feel safe, not judged, supported, and like they’re being cheered for.
-
Mild homework (only if they are open to it)! We only meet an hour a week, and a lot of work happens outside of session! Practicing what we discuss in session is crucial to seeing progress.
